Solo Cruise on Utopia of the Seas – Would I do it again?

I cruised by myself! Me, Myself and I!
I recently took a 3-day weekend cruise on Utopia of the Seas out of Port Canaveral. I was down in Florida helping my daughter move back home to the Carolinas and thought—well, I’m already here… maybe I should cruise!
Fortunately, I’ve sailed on Utopia before, so I was very familiar with both the ship and the itinerary. Having recently gone through some big life changes, I realized this weekend was the perfect opportunity to decompress. I just wanted to catch my breath, slow down, and do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.
And I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Honestly, I may have only spoken to about ten people the entire trip, and it was exactly what I needed: quiet, peaceful, and blessed with fantastic weather.
Day 1: Embarkation Day
As soon as I boarded, I went straight up to the Solarium, grabbed a spot in my favorite chairs overlooking the water, and relaxed until lunch at 11:30. After a delicious meal, I popped over to The Mason Jar bar to grab my favorite whiskey drink—the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned. (Okay… maybe I had two!).
Once the staterooms were ready, I went down to unpack and spent the rest of the afternoon strolling around until the casino opened. It was such a peaceful day. The casino crowd was super friendly, and I ended up making some new friends while trying our luck at the slots.
Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas
I enjoyed a nice, slow morning, heading to Central Park for a relaxing breakfast at Park Café. Originally, I wasn’t planning to get off the ship in Nassau. But it was such a gorgeous day, I decided I should at least stretch my legs for a bit.
I walked down to Lukka Kairi and enjoyed a couple of Sands Light beers while taking in the stunning water views. I don’t usually drink much beer, but something about a cold Sands Light right by the ocean just hits the spot! Afterward, I wandered through the port area to hunt down a Nassau sticker for my ice chest back home.
Once back on board, I took a well-deserved nap, caught the AquaTheater water show, and spent a little more time in the casino (though the slots weren’t quite as generous as Day 1!).
Day 3: Perfect Day at CocoCay
I love CocoCay, but when I travel with friends, we usually splurge on the Coco Beach Club—which takes the whole experience to another level. This time, I figured I’d just grab a lounger by the ocean and chill out all day.
However, the island was crowded. So many people!
I turned right around, walked back onto the ship, and went straight to the pool deck. Pro tip: If you’ve already been to CocoCay before, staying on the boat while everyone else gets off is amazing. I practically had the pool to myself! I struck up a casual conversation with some nice people a few chairs over and had the most peaceful day ever. That evening, I did a little more playing in the casino and spent time wandering around the ship, stopping off at different lounges and spots along the way.
Would I Do It Again?
I absolutely loved it. That said, I don’t think I’ll make a habit of seeking out solo cruises—I really enjoy traveling with my group, and we always have the best time together. But for this specific trip? It was exactly what I needed to decompress, process recent changes, and enjoy a little solitude… even surrounded by thousands of others on the boat.
